Kathryn Zellich graduated Summa Cum Laude from Webster University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, to which she has added numerous college credits in early childhood education and administration.

Kathryn has been an early childhood professional since 1982. Her work as an educator encompasses preschool, school age, and college-level instruction. She served as an adjunct faculty member of St. Louis Community College/Meramec for five years and has been a facilitator for Missouri’s Project Construct since 1990. She served on the Executive Council for the St. Louis Public Schools’ Smart Start initiative, and as a member of the St. Louis Public School’s Advisory Council for the Missouri Superintendents Forum/Early Childhood Initiative. Additionally, she has served on the Board of Directors of the Child Day Care Association in St. Louis. In 1997, Kathryn was the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership and Service Award presented by the St. Louis Association for the Education of Young Children.

Her writings about early childhood have been widely reprinted in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area. These include “On Saying ‘Yes!’ to Children”, “Art Versus Crafts”, “Constructivist Art–Decoding the Differences”, and “The Creative Process. She invented Constructa-Vista, a board game for adults designed to promote reflection on educational practices. In addition she is an educational consultant who speaks extensively throughout the bi-state area.

Kathryn is currently the Executive Director of Cornerstone Center for Early Learning, a United Way agency in South St. Louis that serves 162 children from six weeks to six years.
