Workshop Descriptions
"Paint Play” with Dr. Drew                               Fee$30.00 plus $15.00 materails fee

Playing with paints moves the senses to open the heart and mind.  “Paint Play” reunites the spirit and passion of our whole being,…unifies our hands feeling, heart yearning, mind learning, and soul aspiring.

In playing with paints we are immersed in the wish to give and learn and become all we can. Underlying hopes and dreams are expressed in the fluid play with paints. We are free to be, to imagine, to discover and communicate any idea or feeling spontaneously.

Since play is a creative force that transforms us aesthetically,… and paints help us to render self-pleasing representations of harmony, order and wisdom.

Play is a happy talent and paints a happy medium. Come  enjoy a playful way of sharing who you are and who you hope to become. The better we understand and trust the process of play, in this case with paints,… the better we are able to help our children grow healthy, strong and happy through play.

“Block Play” with Dr. Drew                              Fee$30.00 -  Blocks will be for sale after the workshop.

Block play challenges us to  think creatively,… to invent new solutions to problems we face in the moment and throughout our lives.

Playing with Dr. Drew’s Discovery Blocks is a unique and enjoyable sensory learning experience in which you become the artist, designer and engineer of amazing 3 dimension structures. Through both solo and cooperative hands-on play you will discover the deeper meaning of block play, and how your play relates to feelings of hope, will, purpose, competence, fidelity, love, care and wisdom.

Hands, Heart & Mind©  and Cooperative Play Experiences    Fee : $30.00

“Plant in the land of children whatever you wish to put into the life of our times."
Lucy Wheelock

"Constructive, exploratory, and dramatic play belong at the heart of early childhood education. Play experiences are key to children forming early understandings about their natural world, mathematical and early literacy ideas, and social competence. Yet in many early care and education programs and throughout our society, play is overlooked and undervalued.

When replicated with adults, “hands-on” play and reflection experiences lead to insight into children’s learning and the teaching process. In the same way that children engage in the reverie of play, adults can rediscover the joy and importance of their own play and creativity."

The growing emphasis on performance standards and curriculum outcomes in early childhood education is pushing us to pay closer attention to content in academic subjects.  How can content be taught in a manner that respects what we know about early development and the importance of play in the learning process?

As advocated by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the constructivist format of this professional training for adults…….mirrors the way children learn about the world,…..  that is by constructing knowledge from direct experience."
